Solidarity from colleagues around the world

Notice of the strikes was sent to the management with a signed declaration from the workers of the Algarve branch. The workers have expressed their disagreement with the unilateral decision to reduce payments for the technicians working shifts during the December/January holiday period.

The management of the Iberian site (Zardoya OTIS) was also informed of the situation, in order to take the necessary measures to recover these payments.

This is the first time in the history of OTIS Elevadores Portugal that two strikes have been called in the space of one year – the first being on 30 April 2021.

Luc Triangle, industriAll Europe’s General Secretary, has commended the strike action and appeals to all the union representatives of OTIS, across the world, to join ranks and send messages of support to their colleagues.

“It is completely understandable that the workers at OTIS Elevadores Portugal in the Algarve demand salary payments that are in line with the rest of the company’s technicians across the country. Their work is of equal quality and should be on an equal footing, especially now when inflation and living costs are rising exponentially”.
