IndustriAll Europe welcomed the European Works Council (EWC) of Safran to its Brussels office as part of a study trip including an educational tour of the European Parliament to gain a deeper understanding of how it operates. The initiative reflects the long-standing cooperation between industriAll Europe and the Safran EWC and offers an opportunity to strengthen links between workers' representatives at company and European level.
During the visit, the delegation took part in a training session on the role of industriAll Europe, the revised European Works Council Directive and the practical implications of the new rules. Together, participants explored how the amended Directive can help European Works Councils make stronger use of their information and consultation participation rights for the benefit of workers across Europe.
The Safran EWC stands out as one of Europe's most experienced European Works Councils in using transnational social dialogue. Over the years, it has facilitated the negotiation of several European Framework Agreements between industriAll Europe and the Safran management, covering the professional integration of young people, the development of skills and career paths and parenthood, demonstrating how an active EWC can use its rights to deliver concrete benefits for the European workforce. The EWC is currently building on this experience by paving the way for a new European Framework Agreement on artificial intelligence at work.
IndustriAll Europe is pleased to welcome the Safran EWC and values its long-standing partnership with a European Works Council that continues to demonstrate how social dialogue can deliver tangible results for workers. We look forward to continuing our cooperation in support of stronger workers' rights, effective European social dialogue and meaningful employee involvement across the multinational company.
